Be a Team Manager
Your role is vitally important by ensuring that important team and league information is being conveyed to players, parents, and coaches. Good communication is key!!
Check our Resources tab for help with many of the items listed below.
You must register as a volunteer with USA Hockey. There is no cost for this registration, but you will be given a registration number.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be the liaison between the team coach and your team. Relay messages, practice, or game schedule changes to and from the league or ice scheduler as needed. It is recommended that a weekly team communication be sent reminding everyone of upcoming events such as:
- Practice times/changes
- Game times (home and away)
- Arrival times for games
- Home game worker schedule (Squirt level and above):
- Penalty Box
- Score Sheet
- Scoreboard
- Away game worker schedule (Squirt level and above):
- Penalty Box
- Home game worker schedule (Mite level):
- Scoreboard
- Miscellaneous messages
Communication with your team should be handled through SportsEngine. If you do not have access to your team page, please email us.
PRACTICE & GAME RSVPS:
Team Managers and Coaches need to make parents aware of the importance of attendance for practices and games. The Crossbar App offers parents a simple way to RSVP for upcoming team events. Coaches and managers can view this information so they can plan accordingly.
ROSTER STICKERS:
All teams need to have roster stickers showing the following information:
- Team Name
- CSHL Number
- USA Hockey Team Number
- All rostered players - number and first & last names
- Head Coach with CEP number
- Team Manager with contact information
One option for this is SheetLabels.com. They have an easy-to-use design tool that creates the print outs for you. We use 4"x2" labels. On this site, they are SL102.
SCHEDULING:
The Team Manager or Coach from each team will need to attend the CSHL Pre-Season Scheduling Meeting and Regular Season Scheduling Meeting. A list of potential ice slots will be given at the meeting and you will help schedule games.
HOME GAMES:
Make sure a scoresheet is provided to the scorekeeper along with a roster sticker for the Shaker team.
AWAY GAMES:
Make sure a roster sticker is provided to the scorekeeper.
TOURNAMENTS:
Work with the Hockey Director to ensure all needed information is provided for the tournament, including official USA Hockey rosters, hotel rooms, meals, team activities, etc.
COACH RECOGNITION:
Arrange for coach gifts at the end of the season if desired by the team.
